When MEMPAZ was up and running, representatives of all the partner groups came together in Pueblo Bello, in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, to get to know each other and share the work that they had started all across the national territory. We sang together, played together, talked a lot, ate, walked and cried together. Here you can see photographs and films of this event, which took place in October 2019. Then the COVID-19 pandemic erupted into our communities, drastically changing our plans. Some connection was maintained online, but many of the partners had only limited and sporadic digital connections.
When we were able to come together again in Cali in May 2022, a lot of us had endured illness, loss and the loneliness of separation from loved ones. You can see some of the photographs and films that we created together in Cali – some of them are joyful, others are angry or sad. Finally, in Bristol in March 2023 we came together again to launch the books, music and exhibitions that you can see here, and to celebrate everything we had achieved together.
